How can I tell how what age a dresser is?
Question:It has a hat box and circular joints --it looks like machine cuts, and key holes in the drawers.
Answers:
Most of the time on older pieces you can find some type of identification. Places to look for manufacturer name or numer is the bottoms or backs of drawers, the inside of the back part of the dresser or the underside of the bottom. If none of those places turn up any more information, type in some identifying factors for your dresser on your favorite search engine and see if something comes up.

Your best bet if you wish to persue the age is to compare the differant charectoristics for the times differant furniture was built. Study the end cuts on drawers (look for dovetailing etc) The hat box should be indication you have a old piece on your hands. The next bext thing you can do is to find someone who is knowledgeable with antiques and have them do some research for it. See if there are any ingravings on the bottom. Most classic pieces have some identification on them. Good Luck :)
