Mcrowave leaking?
Question:How can I tell If my micro is leaking? There is a crack on the right side where the buttons are, but everything works fine as far as I can tell. There is some seperation between the microwaving part and the panel and the previous owner tried to duct tape it shut...and thats how it stands right now. Works fine BTW..
Answers:
Aside from these 2 questions, with the price of microwaves right now, don't invest in a detector. Buy another microwave. Aside from the potential fire hazard (cracks can transfer fire outside to your home) you have radiation issues to consider. Spend the 40 dollars and get yourself a new one, will be much more pleasing to view than duct tape and a gash in the side.
The only way to tell is with a microwave leak detector.
There are cheap ($10-$15) microwave oven leak detectors that you can pass over all the cracks (like around the door) and that will glow if there's a leak large enough to be considered harmful. No batteries required.
Forget about it. Its probably not the cooking cavity and at any
rate they opperate on high frequency that is not dangerous,
except maybe to somebody with a pace maker.
