Ugly 1950's flooring- what to do?!?

Question:In my 1950's home, the enclosed patio has this horrible horrible old 1950's thick floor tile. I'm not sure if it's a ceramic, but it's ugly and there are a few missing. I'm wondering what options I have. Can I lay a fresh coat of concrete or cement over it and then stain it? I'm hoping to not have to break up all the flooring. I do love the look of stained concrete, but I've got to do something that will look good, but not break the bank...ideas? I'm a big fan of DIY, but need to be sent in the right direction...

Answers:
I think laying a fresh coat of concrete is a good idea. Just be aware of any cracking that you may have happening now as it will eventually crack through your concrete as well.

I would say that the concrete idea would work.
If its a patio floor, there is not an issue with the floor being raised a couple of inches.
Call a couple of "licensed" contractors, see if they can give you some feedback.
i did this to my patio it looks great would patch up where necessary and install a nice piece of indoor /outdoor carpet
and wont break the bank
