How much sand and how much concrete do you need to make 400 square feet of concrete?

Question:under standard mixing methods .

Thanks In Advance

Answers:
Depends on how thick and how much strength you need. A good mix is 6 bags cement, 1/2 ton sand and 1 ton gravel per cubic yards.

Let's suppose 4" is the desired thickness. Works out to almost 5 yards, so 30 bags cement, 2 1/2 tons sand and 5 tons gravel. Don't forget you will also have two or three broken backs in this project, depending upon how many you can persuade to help you.

This is a job for ready mix. 5 yards = $500 plus or minus depending upon your location. Cement, sand and gravel, will be at least $350. Rent a mixer and buy a case of beer for the help and you will find you haven't saved anything. And you still have the broken backs to deal with.

this all depend,s on the ratio you want to use.
this is the ratio i use 1part cement ,2parts sand and 3 parts gravel to know exactly you need to fig. in cubic yards instead of square feet . 1 sq. yd. = 9'x9'x 4" easiest thing to do would be calling your local concrete plant and ask them but they will need to know the depth also.
In all types of cocrete put gravel as double you put sand but as for cement, it depends on what type of concrete you want cast ... plain or reinforced ... you'd better check the code of practice in your area.
