Skylight Tube Horizontal?

Question:I have a situtation where I will be adding a floor above and a room behind my existing kitchen. The kitchen use to have a window, but now the room will be there. Is there a skylight that can pickup the natural light from another window and somehow reflect the sun rays through a mirror skylight?

Answers:
Yep -- SolaTube skylights - http://www.solatube.com/residential.php...

They have a small dome skylight through the roof, with a mirrored tube leading down to the interior ceiling. There's even an option to install a light fixture inside the tube, so you get light from interior skylight day or night.

I believe they carry them at both Lowe's and HomeDepot. If you can get into your attic, and you're comfortable working on the roof, it's definitely a DIY'able project. Just pay close attention to flashing and sealing the roof penetration. You don't want your skylight to do double duty as an indoor waterfall!

SolaTube is the line I'm familiar with, but google "tubular skylight", and you'll find a few other brands.

The is a device called something like a sonotube, try Googling it and other ducted skylights and you will find the product you seek.
How bout mirrors?, or maybe a solatube in a framed pillar through the upstairs room?
I have read about fibreobtic cables bundled to bring in light from the outside. I read about it in a book called"World Changing: A users guide in the 21st century". i think it would be costly but really cool. I read it catches the patterns of passing leaves or clouds like a real window would.
