Can I do brass plating at home?

Question:I just acquired a brass spitoon. It isn't solid brass. It's plated with brass or something like it. The price was great, but the finish is not. Can I re-plate it or do something else that looks convincing?

Answers:
Yes, brass plating can be done at home. Check out Caswell Plating's website: http://www.caswellplating.com/kits/brass...

Their products are awesome. I use them for KopyChrome, nickel plate, aluminum annodizing and powder coating. I do all of this in my garage on an old stove and a folding table. Of course, I was a chemist in the Navy, but their instruction books are excellent and come free with purchase of a kit.

I don't think you can legally. I may be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time. Instead, I would take it to a chrome plating shop and have them do it. They have the know how and the tools to do it better and faster than you can. You'll get a better product and something that will last. Good luck
i would try cleaning with bras so first ,you might be surprised!
i bet you it will work i have done this be for .thought it was a lost cause but it came out great TRY IT FIRST
