I need a quick fix to my shower problem?
Question:The dry wall behind the tiled shower wall got wet. This made the tiles loose and fall out. I can't do it right financially by replacing the dry wall and tile. What can I do to cover the exposed dry wall that will allow use of the shower. If I used heavy plastic is there a tape that would work?

Anything worth doing, is worth doing RIGHT. Replace the "drywall" underneath the tiles with cement board, then retile the enclosure.
Can you put up a curtain rod and curtain on that side too?
I would try a tarp and duct tape
Go to the Hardware store and get some compound for installing tiles ,scrape off the old compound and with a spatula apply the new compound and replace the tiles that are loose, make sure that you let them dry for a while at least overnight . I have done that and they are still sticking !
It's not to expensive either!

It dries in 15 min and is waterproof HARD plastic.
It also sticks to anything.And if there is a gaping hole just pack it with anything to hold up the Bondo until it "goes off".
Oh yea if you still have the tiles...Just stick em back up with the stuff...They arent going any place after that!
Silicone around damaged area a very thick bead than apply a patch of plastic sheet. make sure all soap scum is removed for proper adhesion.
Just hang the plastic and use TUC tape above the shower head , this way it will not be exposed to any direct water. It will last quite awhile this way.
Replacing a section of drywall and tile is a lot less expensive than the consequences of water leaking behind any temporary patch. The potential damage could be 10 times the repair. Consider doing the job the right way. Find the source of the leak. Make sure it is not any of the plumbing before repairing the wall.
You can use duct tape for a temporary fix if you place the plastic upside down secure it with the duct tape, smoothing the plastic and tape carefully to the tile. Then run a bead of caulk across the top edge of the plastic smoothing it so the water will flow across the caulk and not collect. this should work until you can fix it right.
