Help! Sulfuric acid in kitchen. I just used liquid lightning to fix a sink clog, and it didn't work.?
Question:Not only did it not work; it actually ATE through my piping. And now there's sulfuric acid all over my under-sink cabinet. Suggestions on how to contact them (the listed phone number goes to someone's cell phone voice mail), or how to go about contacting them to pay for my repair costs? I can find nothing online, for once! Please Help

Oh' dear. It looks like hind sights even 20/20 on FindHomeAnswers. Consult BEFORE the acid test.
I do believe the company is protected against folks who expect miracle from their product. I'm a vacuum cleaner man and I see the same illogical attempts to deal with what is obviously an unpenatrable obstruction in the system.
That acid works like it should, but it really needs to do it's thing INSIDE the pipes, not inside a bubbling over sink, or through the carelessly tightened pvc, or abs piping.
Next time rent a snake. It's maybe 1/10 the price of those yahoos that come in with their portable snake and charge $140 for 5 minutes work.
DON'T BUY A HOUSE IF YOU CAN'T EDUCATE YOURSELF ABOUT BASIC REPAIRS. IF YOUR RENTING LET THE LANDLORD DO IT. THAT'S WHY YOU ARE BUYING HIS HOUSE FOR HIM.
Ok. You need to replace the fittings under the sink that broke. In addition you need to clean the sulfuric acid without getting it on your hands. Call 7168306623 if I can help, maybe we can get something worked out over the phone
Your going to make a bigger mess, but the easiest way to clean up an acid spill is with lots of water!
As far as the repairs, the company who makes the acid is not obligated to pay for any repairs. Its just as bad as contacting a gun manufacture and asking them to compansate a victim of a crime because one of their guns was used to hurt someone.
to clean it up I strongly suggest to use a material that will absorb it, then with rubber gloves and a scoop - scoop up the material and discard it. Then I'd use lots of soapy water over that area.
A good material to spread all over to absorb might be that bedding used in "Ginny Pig" cages at the pet store, and it is cheap too.
Also, I'd say "Saw Dust" but lots of it.
You may need to do this several times before getting to the soap and water stage.
Once it is cleaned up you can think about repairing the damage. ...
As far as the company :
They would be liable if they sold a product that was faulty, or resulted in damage Well, you did sustain damage but was the product used specifically as described on the lable? Was there a warning that indicated it should not be used in the manner used? Is there any warning of an active acid that will result in damage to certain materials? For this, you need to contact an attorney, he can determine if there is any case here, and yes if they did not give any indication this may occur, or led people to believe it can be used in this manner then they have a fualty product.
No, its not the same as selling the gun, and suing the manufactorer when you're victimized. The gun was not purchased by you, but if it were and it was faulty you would then be able to sue them just as well.
You are not talking about someone else purchasing a product and using it accordingly leading to damage to you. You are talking about you buying a product as described and causing damage. If this is the entire case then they would be liable.
