Fading mirror?

Question:is there any house hold remedy for improving a fading mirror- coating, paint, etc- which i can do it myself

Answers:
Bad news. There is no way to revive your mirror. If you are getting fading or clouding of the silver layer, that means your mirror is defective. there is no coming back.

Typically what happens is something has penetrated the protective paint layer and has gotten to the silver and spoiled its refelctivity. there are many reasons that could happen. Humidity, chemicals like ammonia or sulfur containing compouds will do that to a mirror. Sometimes it is the adhesives used to hold the mirror to the wall, frame, or the piece of furniture it s associated with.

If you go back to the place where you bought it and complain, chances are you will get a new mirror. Mirror manufacturers make allowances for spoiled mirrors and replace them frequently. especially if there are black spots in the mirror, or if there is corrosion at the edges.

good luck.

**remember, the paint on that mirror is almost certainly loaded with lead. So, dispose of it properly!!

best regards.

The mirror needs to be re-silvered by a professional. If its a simple retangle, just purchase a new mirrior from any glass dealer and replace it.
you can paint yourself in your house and save money
may be you can try scratching of the old paint and paint new.i seriously dont know if it would work but try it.
still i think u cud just buy a new mirror
I don't know.
You can clean the mirror with old newspapers. Rub the newspaper on the mirror so that the dust goes out of it. This will not make any scratches over the mirror and looks good. If its going to be faded completely, you can replace the news one instead of painting or giving new coating.
Sorry, no not to any satisfaction. Have it resilvered if it a family keep sake, if not, replace it with a new one. Don`t waste your time and money on other half baked ideas.
