Anyone ever replace a above ground pool liner?
Question:So I called a couple of companies that do liner installations and no-one called me back. So I am going to attempt to do this on my own. So I have the liner in and it is an over the wall liner so I have it held on by cloths pins and have put some water in, removed the wrinkles and need to know when I should put the coping and the things that go ontop of the copings back on. I am not sure if I should keep filling the pool because I may need to loosen the liner because of the pull when I get more water in. Can anyone help me out and explain when I should put the rails back on?
Answers:
I have done 2 and I wait until the water is almost to the skimmer, about a foot or so, by that time all the slack should be out.
You've done it right so far. The hardest part is getting the wrinkles out.
Leave the clothes pins in for another foot or so of water. Check the sides of the liner as it's filling. If the liner seems too tight anywhere, you can adjust it by removing and replacing the pins.
To be totally honest, it's been a while since I've done this, so I'm not sure how much water you're supposed to put in before putting the top rails on. So I don't want to give you wrong information. I suggest visiting a pool supply store in person and explaining it to them. Someone should be able to tell you.
Don't delay any longer than you have to, though. The liner can shrink if it's exposed to sunlight for too long.
We`ve replaced a couple of them,4 1/2 x 18ft. round. Usually we fill it a foot or two and then put the coping on. I`m not sure what kind of coping you have but ours comes off easily to adjust if needed. If you get a small amount of pull it won`t hurt anything. The side readjusts itself when you pull the coping off. Keep an eye on it though. Don`t let it go too long before you check, the side may stretch. Of course the sidewall will pop back into place.
Good luck!
