Can you paint over laminex walls in a bathroom?

Question:I would like to update my bathroom. The walls are laminex 3/4 of the way to the roof. Can I paint over laminex and if so is it difficult, does it peel after time? and is there much of a paint range? Would it be better to remove the laminex and tile the walls? I only rent the house so I don't want to spend a lot of money, but would like to tidy it up.

Answers:
rough it up with sandpaper, prime with pro-block and paint it. go to sherwin williams, they will help!

First of all, it's a ceiling. You are clueless, so leave well enough alone.
