How to bulid a wood wheelchair ramp?

Question:

Answers:
For every inch in height you must make ramp 18 inches in length. Build a sturdy frame of 2x4's and attach 3/4 inch plywood on top. It's kinda hard to tell you without more info but you can always go to the nearest lumber dept. and ask for advice. Good Luck.

Google it , there are many to choose from and most are free.
itd be easier for me if u had more questions instead of a vague one such as that but i'll try to tell you generally whatd ud need. a hammer plenty of nails, measuring tape, you need a saw, electric, if you dont want to lose a lot of time. plenty of wood, 2X12" are best to use but you can also alternate it with 2X8"s and 2X4"s, also a few 4X4"s for the base on which everything is going to rest on. concrete bags for the posts and a couple of 2X6"s to rest the ramp on. i dont know how long its going to be or any of the details but i think maybe its best to use professional help. also you'll need a wood trimmer if you want it to look good and paint. its probably cheaper to have a metal one installed
you can go to DIYTV.com or any home improvement site and they will have a do it yourself site to click on and this will be very helpful for you .

it is very easy so go to home depot and ask for help
I'd be inclined (No Pun intended) to check with NAN and Sophieb.

The question largely depends on the space available to complete the task. Certainly the incline has to be appropriate, perhaps even to municipal codes, and comfortable for the chair user.

It may be that you'll have to have multiples, going back on each other in the grade or height difference from ground to whatever level of the house/structure.

I built one for my mother, who had enough space on her property, straight, inline with the exit door. Here the process description would be rather lengthy and you truly should check codes anyway.

I don't offer links but Sophie offered a good one.

You need an inch of rise for every foot of ramp
The ramp can be constructed out of 2"x6" for the framing, & 3/4" for the actual ramp surface.
You could also form it out & pour concrete.
The best thing to do is ask your local building inspector what the requirements are for a wheelchair ramp & go from there.
Hope this helped, good luck!

We build ramps all the time with the group I do volunteer work for. If want to send me details I can probably get you a good head start.
I don't know. but if this person is on disability, and you can show you need help with this, in Nassau county Long Island NY. They have a department of disability that receives money for this purpose, Maybe see if you have anything like that in your state. Could save you a lot of work.
