Does anyone know any great sewing projects for kids?

Question:My kids are new at sewing and I am trying to teach them more. Does anyone know any great sewing projects that would be easy for kids, besides pillows and bags?

Answers:
You could have them pick out old t-shirts they've outgrown or worn out to make into a quilt. That way they get to keep the design, but it gets the nasty thing out of their closet. Just cut the logos into equal-sized squares lay out in a grid, pin and sew. It can be all straight lines for beginners, but more advanced stitcher can design their own irregular grid system. I've seen this suggestion online somewhere before... aha! Here are some links.

How about puppets? They can really get creative with the decoration and type and it incorporates various sewing techniques?
I made shorts as a kid. Some people make simple raggedy dolls...which is cute cause then they can keep adding things onto the dolls to personalize it, which will be like additional craft projects.
They sell them here:

When I was 8 I learned to cross stitch, with the big plastic thing and a plastic needle. When I was 10 I made a poodle skirt. Those are two fun things. With my daisy girl scouts we learned to sow our own dolls, it was a color cloth with an over sized needle, they picked out the color of thread and they sowed the top and edges, then stuffed it with stuffing and sowed the bottom. The eyes and mouth were glued, but you could use buttons before you stuffed it and do that. Also kids like to make 'quilts', only a simpler version.
a blanket
My 9 year old is into sewing 'ugly dolls'. Stuffed rag dolls or animals are pretty basic to teach. You could always step up the pillows and have them sew lace, ribbon, and beads onto them.
How about ==chef's apron, computer wrist rest, or even a wrap around canned drink cover.
yes im looking 4 some apprentices`iv 6 pairs of old Socks`want sewing`and also my`Teddy Bears`ears have come`off`when can they START`
Aprons are fun
especially white ones with white lace
and the men's chef style aprons (no gathers)for both men and women ... and you can stencil on the wearer's name with paint and stencil brushes ...
When I was 5 years old, my grandmother taught me and my cousins and sisters to embroider. We started on just a piece of scrap cloth. Cross stitching is simple to learn for an 8 to 10 year old (I cross-stitched a circus elephant on a piece of cloth at age 8), so you can have them make something like a bib for a baby, a quilt block (start a family quilt for each of them in which everyone pitches in to make it unique), or even embroider something onto an old t-shirt or sweatshirt or pair of jeans. Or you may be able to help them make something like a coin purse, or a potholder. You can also find patterns at Wal-Mart or any fabric or craft store that make sewing easy for kids to learn.
What about sewing felt together in the shape of animals and making their own stuffed pets?
