How do you strenghten wood?

Question:It is a piece of driftwood and I carved it into a machete for camping. its very brittle!

Answers:
you could try coating it in polyurethane or polyacrylic. i don't know about strength, but it should help alleviate the brittleness

ask your lady companion and she can make it stronger
Gilligan!
use mule tape and or stranded type nylon tape limit it so ur edge is still exposed
Hang it on your wall and buy a steel machete.
you could coat it in an epoxy resin of some kind perhaps. I'd think you could just buy a metal machete much cheaper and easier though.
