What size ladder would I probably need for washing the windows on a two story house?

Question:

Answers:
I would measure the distance from the ground to the gutters and add about 3 or 4 feet to that distance. That way it'll be long enough to clean the gutters.

About a 16-20 ft one. Also you get buy supports that attach to the top of the ladder and it makes the ladder more sturdy and safer. Plus it holds you out and away from the work and gives you more movement. good luck
a 28 foot extension ladder would be best, buy or rent one that has at least 250 lbs capacity, this way it will be nice and steady when you're at the top. also, stay away from aluminum ladders, they conduct electricity and a lot of people have been killed when their aluminum ladder inadvertantly came into contact with the power lines leading to their house. this doesn't apply if you have underground utilities, but above all be careful! you can be seriously injured.
If your the same grade all the way around the house then go with a 24 ft ladder and if not go with a 28 ft. to 32 ft. Believe me those fiberglass ladders are heavy compared to an aluminum and hopefully your going to be careful even being 12 ft off the ground you can break your neck so I hope you'll be aware of your power lines, Good luck Les the painter.
sectional or a scaffel
a 28' would probably be best I only carry a 16' 28' & 40' on my truck the 24' sets in the barn colecting dust and the 28' is the most used
16ft
For a two story house 24 ft would do but 28 ft would definitely work for windows...For all the people that say 16ft will work, yea, on a one story house not two. I would like to see 16ft reach two story windows safely. Only if you have a ladder stretcher..
A 24 foot extension latter should do the trick. Make sure it has a 250 lb minimum capacity and also make sure it is sitting on a level surface. Also make sure to use the locks on the ratcheting levers that hook over the steps. This is an important safety device designed to keep the latter from slipping down. Good luck!

16 ft
A 24' Extension ladder will give you all the reach you need on a 2 story house, and as far as the add on stands that keep you away from the house DON'T buy them they will damage your siding or brick. The best thing to get are Ladder booties (this is what I have known them as) if you ask someone at your local lumber yard they will know what you are talking about.
