How to route a groove in the edge of a curved piece of wood?

Question:I want to cut a semicircular-shaped groove along the edge of a piece of wood. If the piece was straight I could do it easily with a core box router bit, but because the piece is curved I can't figure how to make that work, and haven't found any other router bits that would seem to help. Any ideas?

Answers:
I would make a new base using 1/2" plywood. Drill a hole in the centre for bit clearance. Fix two pieces of dowel to the bottom of the plate. This is a bit hit and miss when setting but basically you are trying to provide a two point contact. If you can leave the work piece oversize, cut the groove and then finish to size it simplifies the problem of running the groove off the end of the work.

would you be able to do it if it was upside down on a router table?
I don't know what kind of router you have mine is a three hp ryobi and it has a wheel guide if yours does not have one make a pattern of the curve and use your collared guide on the pattern I hope that helps
