Advice: Should I rip up carpeting?

Question:I bought a cheapish house. Everything is decent but the carpet was kind of stained when I moved in and it's an indoor/ outdoor inexpensive kind anyway. Now with three pets and a job working in landscaping (dusty jeans, muddy paws and boots) we have fleas and throw up stains and pee spots I just can't keep up with! I've really tried. I am very tidy but this carpet is nightmare.

Should I steam clean it myself (time! money! just to have it messed up and infested again) or should I just rip it up and go to the dump today. If I rip it up I don't have the time, knowledge or money (labor or materials) to put down the wood floor I want yet, so it will be the Oriented Strand Board subfloor exposed.

How hard do you think it will be to clean and will fleas attached to this semi rough surface?

Answers:
Definitely get rid of with it! As soon as you clean it,it will get dirty again. I think you would enjoy better if you have the kind of the floor that you could just sweep and mop, even everyday. Just get you some rug or rugs to stop the dirt or anything that go to scatter all over the floor. When you get sick and tied of that rug, you can just throw it out.

Sounds like you bought the house right, and the indoor/outdoor carpeting is cheap enough. I say better to put in new, as cleaning never gets it all out, and ya just don't know what may be embedded into the old carpet.
rip it up and replace it with the cheap laminate flooring. It cost about the same as carpet its easy to install, looks like real wood and resists stains. Its easy to lay with a circular saw and a hammer there is no nails needed it all clicks together.
Definitely rip it up for mostly safety reasons. You and yours are at risk of picking up an infection or disease with the carpet you have now.

You can throw down anything right now like specially reduced linoleum or anything that will protect your feet from splinters, nails and whatever.
Rip it.

Then treat for fleas.

Check to make sure the pets will not injure paws.pads on the exposed floor.

Then clean whatever floor surface you have, and plan to wear shoes or slippers more than usual.

When you can afford it, cover it with whatever you can afford.
rip up the carpet and replace either with wood floors or laminate,i had the same problem and i"am glad i did.
