For tonight, turn on a radio or run a fan to block out the noise.
In the morning, call a "critter ridder" company. Look in the phone book or call an exterminatior, they can refer you to a good company.
There are serious health problems that come with living to closely with bats.
Rabies for one.
The bacteria in their poop for another.
Both have been know to cause illness and death in humans.
This is nothing to play around with!
Get those bats out of there ASAP!
hang fly paper
If you can find where they are getting in and block it off at night while they are out. You can do this from the outside. They won't be able to get back in and will find a new home.
You could turn on a box fan or air filter fan to drown out the noise temporarily.
Tomorrow you can call an exterminator to get rid of 'em humanely.
Accept them as a part of your family. Everything has to live somewhere. Just think of all the mosquitoes they eat. For a little inconvenience you're getting a heck of a (natural) bug zapper.
Haldol.
Oh I see, your "friend" is talking about real bats, not like "bats in his/her belfry"?
My bad. Carry on.
If there is any way yu can toss a can up in the attic, get some Raid or Hot Shot fogger throw them up there and the bats will fly out to get away from the smoke. The smell will leave after a while so it won*t bother you.
You may have to do this a few times to make them stay away until yu can find a way to seal the holes where they are getting in.
You shoud try to leave lights on in the attic and ideally put a radio up there and play music. They dislike both of these disturbances.
I had same problem, the Agg. Extension Agent had me build a bat box and attach it to a tree near the house. Then block their entrance hole at dark after they leave. The bats moved out of the attic and into their new home. If that doesn't work the Agg agent suggested calling an exterminator.
