Does Red Wine Vinegar work on Ants?
Question:My home is invaded with ants and I have read that vinegar does the trick however I only have red wine vinegar in the house.will this kind work? HELP!
Answers:
I would use the White Vinegar because the RED Wine Vinegar is a sweet vinegar and ants love sweets!
Don't think so, but this will, buy some 20 Mule Team Borax laundry soap, put it in one of the squeeze catsup bottles that you can buy at any dollar store, snip the tip of the bottle off just a little, apply the dry laundry soap around baseboards, around plumbing under kitchen sinks and vanaties as well as along the back of countertops, leave lay for several days or so as the ants will carry it back to their nests and it WILL kill them, when you no longer see any signs of the ants vacuum up remaining laundry soap and use the rest of the box of soap to do your laundry...This does work as I have done it for years..and it is a cheap fix, you will probably have five bucks or less invested, plus you have some extra laundry soap!
With all due respect any wine has sugars in the substance. It is made from Grapes afterall. Certainly whatever the substance you use, it should be clear.
Are you close enough to a store where white vinegar can be purchased? Might you have ammonia handy? Have you any boric acid powder?
I have tried vinegar. Ants don't particularly appear to be bothered by it. They aren't attracted to it, nor are they repelled by it. The will walk around wet vinegar and across dry vinegar residue.
Ants live outside and come into the house around the foundation. Spray a good pesticide (Organic or Chemical, your preference) around the outside foundation and they should disappear.
