I am placing a toilet on a slanted flange. Two questions...?
Question:After putting a spacer on the flange, one side is flush with the floor, and the other is 1/4" below. First of all, is it okay if I just lay the spacer over the flange without silicone? That makes removal much easier incase I one day need to, but I'm worried it would leak. I'll be putting an extended wax ring on top of the spacer, which will bring the wax ring on one side 1.5 inches above the tile, and on the other side 1.25 inches. Is this okay? I could put two wax rings instead of the spacer, but I heard this could cause a leak or plug if one ring slips. Is that true? Please help, thanks!

If you have the right type of flange extension it has a seal on one side. Put that side down. If needed you should add silicone so you don't have sewer gases leaking...

You can add two extender if you need to but don't use two wax rings, it'll fail some day.
use the type of extended wax flange that has a plastic or rubberish cone embedded in it. this cone will direct the water down the drain instead of it possibly "spashing" down the drain. with the toliet stuck to the wax ring and the cone there should be no leaking as the cone should extend past the "problem" area you describe. good luck
i would defiantly use the spacer so you don't have one ring slip off, and plug up the other ring. You want to make sure you are using a wax ring with a plastic funnel. First attach it to the bottom of the toilet to make sure it seats on there real well. then place the toilet to line up over the hole. this is much easier with two people. You bolt it down and it won't leak. the reason why you need to caulk it is one, so the inspector passes it, and 2 for convince in cleaning. if your toilet leaks you will have so much more trouble on the floor/floors below it that cleaning up a little dried caulk won't bother you. The reason why you caulk the bottom of a toilet is to aid in cleaning your bathroom, and then drying it out again without things collecting and growing in that cool dark place. that's in my opinion a lot harder to clean too. Good Luck
Level is important and don't worry about putting two wax rings down if you need them. I would first put a horned rim wax ring on the toilet bowl first and set it on the flange. If there is any part of the ring that appears not to be squashed the slightest little bit then you need to add another ring. This wax ring should be just the standard wax ring with out the horn. the excess will not be a problem.
WHAT ever you do DON'T CAULK AROUND THE BASE OF THE TOILET TO KEEP THE SMELL OUT! If it is smelling then you need another wax ring. Reason: if you are getting a smell then it is not sealed and if you are getting a smell then you have a possible place for a leak which leaks on wood are not good, and if you caulk around the base to stop the smell you will also stop the sign of a leak which means the floor rots and then you are tearing up the tile to replace the wood it is sitting on or fixing the ceiling below the toilet if it would happen to be above a room. And that's a fact
