What is this cap/ cover over my washing machine drain pipe?
Question:The place that my washer machine drain pipe suppose to empty has this hard plastic cover over it, and I can not pry it open. Is there anyway to get this accoplished? Now, there is no place for me run the drain pipe to empty. I even tried a flat head screw driver and a crowbar from a car jack tire change kit.
This frustrating, because I can not setup my washing maching.

To remove the cover over the drain first score around the cover with a sharp utility knife. Then take a flat head screwdriver and a hammer to pry it up. Then take a pliers and work the cover off until it snaps. Be careful that none of the pieces fall in the drain. The reason for the cover is so that the drain lines can be pressure tested when the house was being built so it can pass inspection.
Sounds like some one glued it down tight . You may have to cut it off just below the cap if this is going to be a problem the try to cut off the top of the cap and add another piece to it with an adapter . Good luck
the purpose of the cap is to keep water from coming out the top.
the cap is to be remved to acess the pipe for snaking it out
knock a hole in the center or the plug with hammer and a screwdriver the pry it off from the inside. I guess this is a new house. There should be 2 holes...is there not?
