Building a project with brass.?
Question:I'm building a frame with thin walled brass round and tubing, How does one bond it together? Do I solder it or JB Weld. I used propane and tried soldering, but the solder did not hold. I need it to be a STRONG hold, rigid. Please help.

Always use eye protection.
You need to use "flux", this cleans the joint and makes it "compatible" with the solder.
You want to heat the *base metal*, not the solder, the solder will not bond to the metal if it is not above the melting point.
The solder should "flow" around and into the joint like oil. if it doesn't, the joint is not hot enough yet.
Make sure you have a good fit, solder does not like filling gaps.
Good luck,

you may have to rivit it
Brass is easy to solder together. If the solder didn't stick it's beacuse you probably didn't use flux. Flux is an acid that cleans and prepars the metal for the solder. You can get it in any hardware store.
If your soldering looked ok but failed because it was not strong enough you could use "silver solder" it produces a much stronger joint. You will need more heat but a propane flame should be hot enough. Use the correct flux and start again with clean brass as it will not work if there is any soft solder on the metal.
use flux with the solder
