How do I build a pathway in my yard?

Question:I have paving stones and know that I should use sand to put the stones in, but don't know how to level the grassy part of the yard so the stones sit flat in the sand

Answers:
dig a 6" deep path, tamp and level it
add 1" small rock, 3" sand and top with stones use sand for grout and water in

A formal path can be made of redwood bender wood, and then filled in with gravel, or shredded Redwood bark. It can be made with pavers, and gravel in-be-tween. How about brick, or round pavers with beach pebbles, or broken cement for a very informal path. So many different materials are available. Hoyakins
if you have problems with the leveling of the grassy maybe use a bricks or a cut wood to make it easy for you to built your pathway
Use the wood, to outline the placements for your stones. if you have the paving stones already, the wood can be sized to the stones.
Some places sell kits, where you form predesigned stones, you may want to check their directions as to the placement of their product on surfaces like yours. In watching some of this, the wood borders were recommended, and sometimes added decoration, or simply left in place. Good luck.
