mixing bleach and ammonia form a chloramine gas which irritates the nose, throat, eyes and lungs and can last for approx 24hours

Not sure mate... but trust me do NOT NOT NOT mix anything with bleach... any acid and you relase the same gas that was used to kill shed loads in WW1 trench warefare called chlorine

Amonia I think is alkai but would not take chance
If I remember chemistry at school mixeing bleach and ammonia producess a nasty gas, please someone correct me if I am wrong
Ammonia works well as a whitening agent (it's how they whitened linen in mediaeval/renaissance Europe) and does kill most bugs. Also good for stripping wax off floors and the like. But boy, what a smell! Oh yeah, and I think some folks use it in tanning processes. I know it does break down proteins somehow as well, which is why it works ok as a stain remover on certain laundry stains (although sodium percarbonate or borax usually works better).

If you mix bleach and ammonia it does produce toxic gases. You should really never mix any cleaning chemicals. A lot of them react, and you're usually using them indoors where ventilation is less than ideal anyway.
i used amonia to clean some decorative shutters on my house...i mixed it with a little household general cleaning detergent, it worked very well.
Ammonia is a very good cleaner if you can tolerate the smell. When mixed with bleach, it forms a very toxic gas. I learned this first hand many years ago while working in a restaurant. I was mopping the kitchen floor after we stopped serving. I thought...if bleach and ammonia are both good cleaners, they should be great together. We had to have the fire department come out with large fans and had to clear the dining area. Cost my boss a lot of money.
yeah speaking of embarrasing problems with bleach and ammonia I was visiting with my mother and went to the bathroom and did a #1 and #2 in the toilet and for the record #1 has ammonia in it... well my mom neglected to tell me she had left bleach in the toilet to clean it and I started to smell some pretty toxic gas (no pun intended) and it is quite lethal when you mix bleach and ammonia togther it was quite hard to breathe when i was in there so realising what was happening I quickly flushed the toxins before I suffocated myself but when I tell you it was not fun and I dont suggest it to anyone... and I remember something from chemistry about bleach and ammonia want electrons from other atoms or something to that effect so they like to strip other chemicals of those electrons and when bleach and ammonia and bleach mix its a chemical reaction that produces a gas and its toxic to breathe so anyways just thought i would share
Ammonia is the best thing for cleaning mirrors and windows diluted in water. They have perfumed ammonia that smells better. It's very inexpensive.
Ammonia is corrosive. It cleans by eating away chemically at the dirt. Use it carefully because it can eat away at the things you are cleaning.

Mixing ammonia with chlorine bleach produces chloramine gas, which can result in burning of mucous membranes and chemical pneumonia. It is very dangerous.
Ammonia and bleach mixed make an extremely toxic gas. However, ammonia is also unparalleled at removing rust stains.
