Dinning table varnish is coming off?

Question:everything is sticking to it, i have thought about sanding it down and revarnishing it, but would the same thing happen. also is there anything else i could do.

Answers:
Use 'sugar soap' to wash off any grease. Then sand with coarse sand paper, and dust off. Then sand with fine sand paper and dust off. Use a 'tack cloth' to remove all fine particles, then apply first coat of varnish. Re-sand with fine sandpaper, and apply a further two coats.

(Buy sugar soap and a tack cloth from most good DIY stores)

Sand, revarnish and put a coat of polyurithane on it
Repaint it? I don't know..
sand it down to the bare wood, re stain (if desired) and re varnish
A table cloth might be nice.
Sand it well, apply semi-gloss or gloss polyurethane, re-sand lightly, apply it again, re-sand lightly and reapply. This will give you a decent, nice-appearing durable finish. Do not buy a 'latex' version of the poly.
best to sand it down re varnish in heat resistant varnish or one that withstands heat i always use a heat protector tablecloth under my proper table cloth ( curtain material shops usualy sell them) good luck
what kind of wood is it?if teak or pine sand it then apply teak oil then polish if pine sand it then wax it?if any other sand it then spray varnish it ?a spray can bought at homebase,or other major stores, saves time and is easy to apply, enjoy what ever you choose.
No more making love on it.
Use varnish remover making sure you don't drip any onto a chair or floor. ALWAYS work in line with the grain. Very lightly sand the whole top, WITH the grain. re-varnish using the correct type of product. Allow two days to dry, rub down with very fine glass paper. (Old cement bag is good) but don't forget, KEEP IN LINE WITH THE GRAIN, dust off well and apply many coats of polish. You should get the table top so shiny a table cloth will slide off.
An old painter gave me a tip once. when putting on wax polish, use some old and dull wire wool well soaked with wax, again keeping in line with the grain. You'll swear at me over this as the table will be so slippery it will allow crockery to move about.
