How do woodworkers insert shelving dividers in alignment within shelves? How do they fasten the dividers when?
Question:. . . the divider already fastened above or below it obstructs the driving of a nail or a screw into the next divider? Do you understand the question? lets say I have a 4'x4' unit and I want to have approximately four 1'x1' cubes in that unit. How do I insert two dividers one on top of the other?
Answers:
I am a cabinet maker, here is what I do. Cut your shelf to fit from side to side. Cut your upright to fit top to bottom. Now layout where the two pieces intersect. Cut a slot the thickness of your material half way Thu the shelf and half way Thu your upright. now slide them together with some glue and they lock right in place, then slide them into your 4X4 unit. It's like making a peace sign with both hands and sliding your fingers together on the opposite hands, they lock together. Try it on some scrap wood first.
they measure them and put them appropriately into the shelve with a nail and a screw driver.
use pocket holes
