Can i connect the disshwasher to hot water tap?
Question:Hi I am goin to install a new dishwasher in my new kitchen. the dishwasher only has one water feed pipe and in the insstructions it says to connect to the cold water pipe. Now I have central heating and i was thinking if i connect it to the hot water pipe is not going to use electricity to heat the water , but it will use gas which is cheaper. And if the sboiler is already ON for the central heating that makes it even better. Is there anyone Who knows about these things

No offense intended, but either you can't read very well or those instructions are wrong - but a dishwasher should be hook up to hot water -

add on - if the d/w is portable then it will install different- but all built in d/w should be installed on hot water that way the d/w can start the cycle right away instead of sitting there with water in it
I would check with the manufacturer. The dishwasher is designed to heat the water. Also, you have different cycles that may not use as hot of water. The difference in your electric bill will not that much different. So, unless the manufacturer says ok, I would opt for installing per the instructions.
yes you can connect to the hot water line a dishwasher cannot completly heat the water its self and all you need to do is to make sure that your water line on the dishwasher is able to handle the temp of your hot water

all dishwashers that I have seen, hook up to hot water and some then have a booster to make the water even hotter. you mentioned central heating and boiler, but you don't want to tap the heating line. it has antifreeze in it. the hardware store that I work in has a little fitting that you put on the valve and has a spot to hook the sink supply and the dishwasher supply on, it makes a lot less plumbing work.

Most dishwashers hook up to the hot water supply. DW's need 130 to 140 degree water to dissolve the detergent and clean effectively. If you need to depend on the DW heater to heat the water, your electric bill will be much higher.
