First trace your pattern onto the worktop. Use a drill to make a starter hole so you can fit your jigsaw blade into it. then use the jigsaw to cut out your pattern.
You would be much better off not using one, use a router instead this is what your meant to use.
You can also get templates to use with them that are designed for Kitchens etc and will help you a lot.
buy a jog and use jig to make a jik jog saw until finished
