HELP... Cutting glued down wood flooring to install tile in bathroom.?
Question:i need to cut a perfectly straight line in wood flooring that is glued down (conrete foundation) at the door opening into a bathroom. what's the best saw to use or any other tools that someone might know about?
Answers:
Use a skill saw for most of the cut, then there is a German Company named FEIN who makes a electric tool called a multi cutter. It looks like a disk grinder, and has different attachments that allow you to cut the last part the skill saw cant get to. It uses a vibrating action and is my favorite new tool. You can probably rent one for such a small job. It has a sanding attachment that works incredibly. Costs about $300 with attachments.
Try one of these options:
Circular saw with fine blade, tape down edge to avoid splintering. You could tack down a straightedge if you need it. You'll have to make a punge cut which can be difficult, practice on a piece of strap. Chisel out the ends of cut with a very sharp chisel.
Tack down a straightedge and use a router with a straight cut bit. You'll be better off if it has a punge cut ability. Set the depth [you should cut to final depth in several passes, about a 1/4" at a time] so it goes about 95% thru the wood and break out the rest. Chisel out the ends of cut with a very sharp chisel.
there is table saw for cutting tile. or a saw you can change cuter on or hand circulates saw
