NO SMOKING It is against the law to smoke in these premises
It is a bit deep to get into tonight but i will e-mail you, and tell you how to do it tomorrow. If you wish. Ok I won't, you don't allow e-mail,
Tie-up the arm in the small tank in attic space. Bale out the water in the tank using half a 2 litre lemonade bottle.Make sure boiler is NOT running and is cold. Undo the nut of a radiator in the kitchen. get grill pan from cooker ,place under to collect water, CRACK-OPEN the nut and remove 2 buckets of radiator water. Tighten nut, pour inhibitior into tank, it will gurgle down the pipe, undo the float arm, water will flow in to make up the loss. THATS IT Inhibitor is now in system and not in tank doing nothing.
It depends on whether you have a filling tank connected to your central heating in your loft. If yes then drain your heating system a little, usually from a brass drain point on the lowest area of your heating system and pour the inhibitor into the tank thats in the loft. youll know if its the correct tank as it will start to automatically fill when you start draining water out of the heating system. The pump on the system will soon dispurse the inhibitor. If you do not have a filling tank, you probably have a pressurised system (a combi boiler that turns on when you run the hot water??), if this is the case I'd go to the highest point on your heating system and pour the inhibitor into one of the inlets on the top of a radiator - theyre usually at the side of the rad at the top. you will have to drain off a little water first from a drain point on the lowest part of your heating system. You can pour the inhibitor in through a plastic funnel into the radiator. Then pressurise the system again using the small taps/valves underneath the boiler - usually idenified easily as there is a hose connecting two separate pipes! dont go over 1.5 bar - you will see the pressure gauge on the boiler. sounds complicated but its not at all. Dont forget, which ever method you use, you may have to bleed the radiators once youve finished. Hope it helps! Callum
If you have a modern closed system (Combi boiler) there is no header tank.
This is more difficult as you have to syringe it into the rad bleed valve with a special tool.
first find the header tank and take out an amount of water consistent with the amount of inhibitor you intend to use, pour in the inhibitor and switch on the circulating pump to give it a mix. job done, go to the pub, youve earned a pint.!
