I just installed a new toliet and it rocks. the old one didn't. Any suggestions ?
Question:
Answers:
Put a new ring around the bottom. It is still fitted for the old one.
try sitting still
Put a shim under it.
Did you also replace the wax ring? If you didn't its probably because the old ring is retaining the shape of the old toilet, so the new one isn't fitting as well as it could.
you need to check and make sure the flange bolts are tight ,
after sitting on the toilet a couple of times the wax ring will compress and form to the bottom of the toilet more
just retigthen the bolts a bit more and that should do the trick
just be sure to tighten them evenly so you dont crack the toilet flanges
B.
enjoy the new shiter
Some toilets have a flange on the bottom that do not accept wax rings with collars, try wax ring without collar.Don't over tighten johnny bolts, could pull them threw floor flange if weak and that would cause it to rock also,do you properly align toilet with floor flange ?
Good luck...
The wax seal may not be set right.
Dont let them mislead you-there are plastic shims made just for your problem and they come in a pack.
Its not your wax ring or what is called a bowl wax. Its just a bees wax and will not hold you or stop you toilet from rocking. Its to prevent sewer gases from exiting where the toilet meets the floor. To fix this you must do two things. Make sure your toilet sits flush to the floor. Install the toilet and make sure it don't rock even with out the bolts on. If it rocks then you need to shim the toilet. Especially if you have a tile floor. Shim the toilet so it don't rock. You may not get it perfect but get it as close as you can. They sell plastic shims just for this. Just cut them to size. Second tighten your bolts down. Don't tighten to mush as to break your bowl. But snug enough to keep the toilet down.
