How can I remove the paint from my Shoji screens?

Question:The previous owner painted the entire Shoji screens white which include the wood and the rice paper.

Answers:
Well, the shoji paper can be removed and new ones stuck on.
A wet soapy sponge rubbed along the wood work will soften the paper and it will come off. When all the paper is off, allow the wood to dry and put up new paper - water base glue, shoji paper and a brush to smooth over the paper is what you will need.
Not sure what to do about the white paint?

Ouch, not sure if you can, at least not for the rice paper. That much you'll have to replace. Whether or not you can remove the paint from the wood without too much trouble or damage depends on what kind of wood it is, I think, and you'll probably get the best advice from a contractor or someone similar on how to do it.
unless its some mysterious old antque, its not worth it .go to a japanese style furniture store and buy a new one,you can find them from 30 dollars to100 dollars
