Any ideas on how I can get my husband to finish the work that needs to be done in our bathroom??

Question:It has been an on going project for a year!! I just want it done. HELP!!

Answers:
It's very simple, tell him if he doesn't finish it in the next two weeks, you are going to start calling and getting estimates for someone else to finish it for him. I own a handyman business and can guarantee you that no man that considers himself "handy" wants any other guy to finish his job.

tell him how you fell and tell him that you want it done or ask him if he dosne't want to do it maybe he should hire someone to do it for him that's what I would do good luck!
Yes, this one's easy.
Next weekend, tie up your hair, get out all your tools, make some nice sandwiches, turn on the music, and look like you are about to tackle it yourself.

Turn on the drill, hammer a few nails, splash some paint, and look really serious about it all. Do not ask for any help.

"What are you doing, love?" he will ask.

"Just finishing this - won't take me a moment!" And remember to smile. Do not look helpless or stupid.

Naturally, he will think he can do a better job. So he will jump in and make suggestions, and then he will take over. Give him food and drink. Keep him company.

If this does not work, you are equipped and ready to go anyway - do it yourself!
Go to Lowe's and home Depot. and get estimates, or call a handyman for estimates. Fear always gets me motivated.
friends are coming over this weekend or mother in law please fix bathroom looks bad please fix before they come
He do anything for some beer and Peanuts peanuts lum lum
Ask your dad to come over and finish it. Then tell your husband. He'll be in there finishing it that night. Grumbling, but working. No man wants to get "owned" by his father-in-law.

That's how we finished getting our house painted, anyway...
Get lots of estimates from local businesses. Then take them into the bathroom and while wearing a nice sheer nightgown and robe. Tell him you could have me here if it ws finished...
My husband is the same way . Sometimes all it takes is to start doing it myself if that doesn't work . I ask some of his good looking friends if they would like the job.. Of course I'm not going to hire them when he is capable of doing it himself but he is very jealous. If that doesn;t work i cut him off if you know what i mean!
I'm assuming withholding sex won't expedite the situation, so I like "Wolf's" answer.
I agree in part with answer number one, and ODD as it may seem the notion was also expressed on a recent episode of "The Simpsons"

Being a DIY is a noble pursuit, and often a self affirmation of worth, but can be detoured by a lack of some knowledge at some point...and with an ego, or a thought that being thought incapable, procrastination sets in.

As a Guy,,, sometimes Try even if you fail, isn't as valuable as Don't even go there.

Threats are silly. as is putting a lock on the bathroom door.

You could attempt the work on your own, but that kinda defeats the purpose. I was married 25 years,,,Honey Do's should be a mutual thing, but at least talk about the WHY of his delay.

It may be that he WANTS help or advice? Maybe he should post a Q here?

Steven Wolf
well, Steven is wrong, and so close too. Tell hubby, that until he is through with the bath, you are through in the bedroom. It will be finished by next Saturday night.
I agree with wolf...tell him you are going to call someone else to finish the job. This will send him into a frenzy of activity and he will resume work on the project almost immediately. My only suggestion is that you shower him with praise (and love, candy, beer?) and don't come off like a nagging wife (sorry). No man likes to feel like another can take his place in home improvement when he's perfectly capable of it himself. Maybe you could arrange an hour massage at the spa when he's all done...works for me every time!
Ask him very politely to finish it in two weeks and tell him if he doesn't then you are going to rent a porta potty and put it in the front yard, lol, and then see how fast he works, lmao
With hold any extra curricular activities ( wakka wakka - badda bing ) that he may desire. Or call another man to get the job done.
Call in some professionals in to finish the job, just make sure he is home to see them in the house giving you a quote for the work. If that doesnt work tell him hes not going to get any lovin from you until the job is done. Hopefully you can hold out that long.
You actually have the power in your hands. Just help him do it; and that means being there for him physically, handing over whatever he needs and the likes just make sure you suggest working on the bathroom when you are both free and just lounging around.
Call a contractor and ask what they would charge and how long the project would take.

Give the estimate to your husband and ask for the money.

It might just motivate him as he then knows you are serious.
You can use the Spartan women's technique on how to get their husbands to stop fighting wars - CUT HIM OFF until the job is done.
Start poopin on the floor and tell him if you had a toilet this wouldnt be an issue, and cut him off, if you know what I mean.
you could sweet talk him, maybe, but i would hesitate to use the bedroom idea. i saw it ruin one marriage. the husband retaliated. try a half hearted attempt to do it yourself. he wont want to be shown up. i know I wouldnt.
