How do I change my old gas grill into a charcoal grill?

Question:I have an old gas grill with a bad switch. I want to use charcoal in it but wanted to know if there's any parts I need to disconnect first. There is no tank attached.

Answers:
Remove all gas associated parts. You need to block all the air holes in the bottom of the grill. I used a piece of sheet metal and bent it to fit. I put some clean sand on top of the sheet metal to hold it in place. After a few uses it will keep it's shape by itself. Home Depot has small sheets that you can trim to fit and it's easy to shape. I love it. Food tastes better, and no flair up's

Just remove grates, put charcoal in, reinstall grate and your good to go.
You will need to remove all of the fittings.
buy a new one? but i don't know how to do what your asking
