Yes, you can install one anywhere really. If you are placing off the wall make sure you install in the studs, if hanging from the ceiling make sure you in stall in a solid structure, like rafters.

i know a guy who does this from any door . he reaches up and around to the other side and grabs the door frame and does anywhere from 10 - 50. no installation required.

Yes. Reinforce whatever rafter or truss you are attaching it to. And also bolt it through the rafter/truss, not just screwed to it. I learned that the hard way.
