How do you install a pocket door?

Question:I am remodeling in a tight space. Pocket doors will easier circulation and access. I'm also dealing with an angled ceiling.

Answers:
Wow, that's big question (or at least a very long response).

Installation not that hard, but for the first time remodeler, the framing is more of worry. Also, you are going to have to make a rough opening in the wall that is the size of the door itself.

Check out a few web resources for some tips.

Personally, I chose bifold doors instead. No framing to do, and you still open up the 10sq.ft. of space that you had keep open for that swinging door.

A good article on their installation:

Need a pocket door frame kit . not the cheapo one made with thin steel track the good track made from aluminum
Good links above. The kit you might want to install is made by Johnson. You can find them at Lowes. They have the steel reinforcing mentioned previously.
