Painted Concrete Floors?
Question:I would like pull up the existing flooring in my home and paint or stain the concrete slab for a decorative finish. I know all about acid stain and it seems too expensive. I would love to be able to just clean the concrete, stain using regular concrete stain, and then seal. I am also considering painting the concrete floors but I don't want them to bubble or peel. Any ideas for this remodel project?
Answers:
clean the concrete with muriatic acid (read directions) pressure wash it if possible, and then buy concrete paint or stain at Lowes. I prefer the stain for the washed out casual look
In my basement I just bought floor paint at Home Depot and rolled it on. It comes in a number of different colors and was about $20/gallon. It's been on for over three years and no bubbling or peeling.
i'm getting ready to do this.. u have to clean up all the debree.. then clean up the concrete.. w/ acid cleaner.. dry throughly... then use concrete paint or stain. I'm gonna do squares like tile so it would give it that effect. W/ the different colors in ea square. Then u have to seal it w/ polyurthaine several times & let it cure b/c actually using it & putting anything back on it.
I hope I can do it soon... jst waiting for the "GO" from the BIG CHEESE...hehe
All concrete paints and floor enamels used on concrete will not last too long. Concrete has a "problem" in that it "dusts" all the time. that causes a thin powder and when that releases, the paint will come off the floor. I would stain the concrete instead of painting it and I would use the best stain possible.
