If you get a "Hugger Mount" / "Snugger Mount" fan you will be fine... Unless you are seven feet tall and like to jump up and down alto... then there could be a problem!
Seriously :
Emerson fans are designed to fit a standard eight-foot ceiling, which puts the blades seven feet from the floor for the best air movement and clearance.
Use the Emerson Ceiling Mounting Kit or go with an Emerson Snugger model to achieve the desired seven-foot blade clearance. Emerson offers an extensive selection of Snugger models to accommodate your needs.
For ceilings above eight feet, the fan should be hung by a down rod to eight or nine feet from the floor. This is important because the higher the fan is hung, the less air circulates near the floor. Choose one of the accessory down rods available in lengths of one foot to six feet to achieve your desired height.
The Emerson Ceiling Mounting Kit and the appropriately sized down rod will accommodate cathedral ceilings and sloped ceilings up to 40°. The dual purpose kit (low and sloped ceilings) allows you to mount your fan as close as eight inches from the ceiling
only if you are 8 ft tall.
you can get the flush mount. it will hang about 10-12 inches. So if you are over 7' tall, then yes, it would be too low.
It depends on the down rod you use. If you use the one that comes with the fan, you will have no problem.
Yes, way too low! But you can do it if it hangs directly over a dining table etc. The issue may not so much be the top of your head hitting so much as gesturing arms.
Use a low profile, or ceiling hugger fan. They are designed to use in rooms with lower ceilings.
no you can buy a fan made to hug the ceiling - also the electrical code is 7 feet from the floor so you have 1 foot to work with - another thin to keep in mind is you need to uninstall the Box where the normal fixtuure is with a fan approved electricl box (the ez brace box is the easiest for homeowners )to support its weight . (you dont want it to fall on someones head ! good luck
No. We have ceiling fans with lights in three
rooms of a mobile home. The walls are 7' tall
and the center is 8'. The fans are mounted near
the center. Good Luck. Don't forget to use a
steel electrical box to hang the fan from.
Really, it wouldn't be an issue. You'd just have to make sure you watch your arms. Another thing you can do, aside from a flush mount, is you can recess it. Either way you will be just fine, but probably, the easiest, and cheapest way would be a flush mount.
