The most common way to locate a leak is to swim to the bottom of the pool with a bottle of food color. Squeeze a drop or two by seams or other suspicious locations. The leak will draw the water towards and out of the hole. It is helpful to wear a pair of goggles or a diving mask and to drain the pool leaving about three to four feet of water.
You should fill the pool, and then you will be able to find where the leak is coming from. Get a small tub and put water and liquid soap,in it and mix. use a brush and go over where you think you have a leak, if it starts to bubble then you need to put a patch on it.
If you turn off the filter and get everyone else out of the pool, you can often hear the leak. It must be quiet. A small leak will make a sizzling sound. When you get close (where the sound is the loudest), run your hand over the liner. When the sound stops, you found the leak.
