How do I cut a hole in a piece of plywood?
Question:I am trying to cut a plywood frame for my airconditioner. I need to cut a square out of the center. How do I do that? What tool do I need?
Answers:
Draw the size square you need to cut out on your plywood with a pencil. Use a drill with the biggest bit you have and make a hole on the inside of the line near one corner of the area you've drawn on your plywood. Using a jigsaw, place the blade in the hole and follow the line you have drawn.
Safety first - use eye protection.
drill a hole in the middle of what u want cutting out use an electric saw to cut the edges threw the hole
I suggest you take one to a hardware store and they can do it for you, if you don't want to do that then you can get an electrical saw
After you have your square drawn out drill a quarter inch hole in each corner then use a jig saw to cut from each hole you have drilled, good luck.
a handheld jigsaw
drill a hole at any point on the line that scribes the hole and use a jigsaw to cut the hole for the a/c.
both are pretty cheap.
with a drill
and a hole saw
You will need a drill with about a 1/4 to 3/8" drill bit and a jig saw. Outline the Square for the opening an then drill holes in each of the corners (make sure that you drill inside the square). Then use the jig saw and slowly cut along you line. you will need to watch what is under your work piece because you may cut thru it. Use some 2x4 scrap under your plywood to lift it up off of any table your working on and give the jigsaw blade room to move up and down.
The other tool to use would be a spiral cut saw. With the right bit you can drill into your material and then move along your lines. Theese saws can be a little difficult to control.
amf should get this ten
get a bit to fit on a drill called a holesaw. maybe 1-2 inch depending on the hole
