HOW do you repair historical masonry?

Question:I'M WORKING ON AN OLD BUILDING THAT HAS BRICK VENEER

Answers:
There are several considerations when working on old brickwork, whether considered historic or not. It is important to do this one right, mortar selection in particular can be an issue. Old brick do not get along well with standard mortar that would be used today.

I know there is cement (patch) filler that comes in caulking tubes for between the bricks. I was not overly impressed with it & felt it was a quick fix and not the solution. If you find out, could you let me know, too?
