I'm looking for a small air compressor? (please read details)?
Question:I don't want a bike/ tire pump because I need to be able to hook it up to other thing like nozles and other hoses but it has to be small/ light and can't have a tank I will be connecting it to a tank.

The compressor you buy... any compressor... is matched to a tank. The only exceptions are those made to hook up to car nd bike tires for inflation purposes. But anything designed to attach to a tank comes with a tank. THis is because you'd need an enormous compressor to produce high pressure continuously for construction work, and if it ran continuously without a regulator your hoses would either blow off or explode. If you connect the compresssor to a tank that it is not matched to, presumable a lot bigger unit, then it will have to work too hard too long and too often and you will burn it out. A small compressor can not work on a huge tank, period.
If you wish to fill portable air tanks, say to take on the road to fix a flat tire, then fill them from the existing tank using the attached hose and a tire type fill valve.
you should see if Lowe's or home depot has a pan cake air compressor on sale. we bought one that is small and easy to carry. we got ours for 100 bucks. that will be the cheapest you can get one for. it also came with a brad nailer. note the hose is cheap and if it hits the compression line it will melt the line. make sure you keep the line clear of the tank. the line will be good for starters until you can get a new one. we bought a new hose for our compressor for under 40 dollars. i would also see if sears has any sales on the compressors there. the pan cake tank is just a small round tank. good luck with finding a good sale on compressors. any brand is good. our tank hold up to 3 gallons of air and it works fine for spraying texture, hanging trim, putting air in any thing you need air in.
You can buy just the compressor from any supply house or you can go to Sears or Lowes or Home Depot and order just the compressor. But you will have to buy a motor separate, and hook it up yourself. To get an operating compressor you will have to buy one with a tank, compressors will not operate without one.
