What shouldn't you put down a kitchen sink?
Question:My roomates are always putting crap down the drain and clogging up the sink. what shouldn't they put down there. I know the dissopsal isn't made to take anything down.so what doesn't need to go down there
Answers:
Potato peels are a sure way to clog it right the f* up.
Also not recommended:
sporks
firecrackers
paint
any part of your girlfriend's cat
car keys
Anything stringy (corn husks, celery, etc.), anything NON biodegradable (cig butts, garabe, etc.) and no meat products.
Anything chunky shouldn't be forced down the drain. Also, grease is a no-no. The grease will clog the pipes and cause a back up.
i know one for sure, don't put potato peeling in the disposal. this for sure will clog it up.
potato peelings, rice, any kind of pasta, dog food, glass, bones, lemon peels, orange peels, apple peels, subway sandwiches, coke cans, egg shells.lots and lots of others
Ive pulled a lot of stuff out of kitchen drains including those listed above. The disposal is designed for MINIMAL foods that are left on dishes. You take the dishes and scrape off the food in the garbage and then if there is one or two corn kernels left on the plate then they go down. You never want to put TOO MUCH down at once. Always run water too. The disposal is not a trash eater like many people think. It's only to be used sparingly which is why I think they are a stupid invention even though I have one myself but I NEVER use it.
onion skin
Your roommates! And show them where the bathroom is so they can crap there!
Just tell them to use it for general cleaning, its not the dump. I dont put any solids down the drain, whether a diposal or not.
To play it safe, tell them the blades have gotten dull. Everything has to go in the trash.
