Has anyone heard of using the toilet bowls hangy things to keep bees out of the backyard?

Question:I heard someone say the other day that if you hang toilet bowl hanging things in the backyard around the perimeter that bees wont come into the yard! Has anyone tried this does it really work?

Answers:
I think you might be thinking about the trick to hang things that look like wasp nests to keep real wasps from building nests. I don't think that they will have any effect on honey bees.

I apologize that I really have no clue but have some thoughts.

Consider first, that even if it doesn't work it also didn't cost much to try. Also it may be a similar effect to Moth Balls on moths, perhaps not used widely anymore, but the naptha in Moth Balls was touted to work.

On a light note, look for the ones that smell like Pine Fresh/natures delight/Lavendar Garden, etc. smile; can't hurt to add fragrances to the yard. I might hang them discreetly however, so as not to enrage your BEE Keeping neighbor, LOL.

Whatever you choose, just don't kill them.

no, i havent heard that, but if they are honey bees, i wouldnt worry about them. they wont sting you unless you swat them. they are good for the flowers.
