Help! Don't know how to clean a REALLY filthy kitchen floor!?
Question:Renovating a house and the kitchen floor is 1 foot whitish tiles (?) with rough swirl type texture. Dirt has been ground in and makes it all look grey, blackish and dark in between the tiles. How can I clean it well? Tried a broom, swiffer, mop, hand brush, but nothing but the hand brush worked even a little. But I can't do that, it would take two weeks! Ideas? Also, I am going to use vinegar and baking soda? (Can't deal with fumes or mist) THANKS!!
Answers:
Grease Lightning, spray it on and then scrub it off with your hand brush...it will take some time and will make your floor a little bit slick at first but it takes ALL kinds of nasty off of ALL kinds of surfaces...we used it when we moved into our new place where nobody took the time to clean before us. The kitchen floor was brown now it's white.
bleach and a gas maske
get a made thats what my mom and dad did
Ammonia and water will pull that dirt out of the cracks...you'll be amazed.
You can go to home depot and buy peel and stick floor and go right over your current one. Mine looks brand new now, and it only took about 30 minutes at a cost of 45 dollars.
try branded products from your local store, from the adverts they seem to work well, hope this helps
Steam cleaners. H2O Mop. Worth every dime.
Pine-sol or Comet with a little arm power
go 2 the store get cleaning products get on your hands and knees and START CLEANING ITS REALLY NOT THAT HARD!!!
I have used a steamer on mine after you do get it clean get the tile sealed that will help for next time you can hire someone to clean the tile with a steamer less work for you but a personal steamer is great gets crud off stuff that would take forever to clean on your own. I have a glass table and the kids get stuff all over it and in the nooks and crannys and the steamer gets it out so much faster than anything else I have tried. They cost about 40-80$ you can find them at a store like Bed Bath and Beyond. Good luck!!!
Go rent a tile scrubber or buy one...(They are relatively cheap now).
My Wife uses **** and spam and that, on our kitchen floors and it comes out sparkling.
(What a "scrubber" is, is two rotating heads going in opposite directions, and the brushes "scrub" the dirt out of the floor). Its just a "mechanical" scrubber that sure beats scrubbing on your hands and knees with two brushes :)
If all fails, then get on your hands and knees with a can of comet, and a brush, and as you clean a small "spot" then move onto the next one...
I wish you well...

Have it steam cleaned. Call Stanley Steamer or rent equipment and DIY.
Try one of those Mr. Clean sponges. It takes anything off anything.
Takes tea stains off stuff and those stains that get on forks, knives, and spoons.
Cleansrust too.

Hot water &cascade {Auto.Dishwater cleaner} mix 2oz.cleaner to 1/2 gal.water, string mop allowing solution to stand {get floor very wet} using wet vac.to dry.
Use a liquid cleaner like Spik and Span or Mr Clean or TSP and a little water mixed. Slosh it on the floor and let it sit for a while to loosen the dirt. Then SCRUB IT WITH A SCRUB BRUSH. Wipe up all the dirty soapy stuff and rinse with clean water. You might have to do this again For the grout make a paste of powdered cleanser like Comet that has bleach in it. Put the paste on the grout and let sit a minute or so then scrub with a tooth brush.
open the doors and windows and work your way over it in 3ftX3 ft sections with ammonia...pour it on...spread around a bit...let sit for a few minutes then scrub then rinse out the mop and mop up the gunk
Stop being a cheap-a55 and just go out buy new floors.
Open the windows, use a box fan to exhaust, and pour 50% ammonia solution on the floor, let sit for 5 minutes and mop up. The dirt and grime will be gone.
Depending on the type of tile, mix soft scrub with comet and then get on your hands and knees and scrub. It will take some time, but once you clean up the original grime, it should be easier to maintain.
