My hubby is putting up a five foot outdoor deorative privacy fence?
Question:The top is all in line, but the bottom of the fence isnot even looking as far as the ground is on an angle, so there is maybe a five to 6 inch space between ground and fence. How to fill this space in, besides dirt, so the doggy doesnot dig itself out into the street?
Answers:
I think I would buy some landscaping stones and put a row (Or two) along the fence~at least in that area. Then you could plant some nice, pretty bushes or plants to highlight your fence:) If you can keep Pup out of them:) P.S...Don't let Hubby do the stone work though~LOL You might have to put some stiff wire fencing along the bottom too~tack in onto a 2x4 and bury it a foot or so into the ground, then cut it & tack it in along the bottom of your new fence to make it as inconspicuous as possible.
Good Luck!
You could use a 1x12 or 2x12 and nail it to the bottom of the fence boards. Depending on the angle of the yard this would not be an eyesore.
well if he had stood the fencing slats upside down in the position they were to go and snapped a chalk line across the top you would have had a perfect cut line that when inverted would have matched the ground perfectly, but now add the 12" toe plate and recess it into the ground an inch for the doggie. good luck
my next door neighbours put those large railroad ties all around their fence line so their dog doesn't get out
1. You could buy 6' pickets for the specific area where the 5' pickets are not long enough. This would be the best option visually.
2. Bury some chicken wire between the post to fill the gaps.
3. Castle wall landscaping stones.
4. Buy a radio fence and run the wires around the bottom outside of the fence.

I think a radio fence is like burying a wire in the ground so that if the dog gets too close he will get a mild electric shock from the collar he wears.
They have been passed by the RSPCA here.
The easiest way I can think of would be attaching a 8" x 1" board along the bottom. Just dig out the dirt so it is level.
Make sure the timber is pressure treated for ground contact.
