National electric code?

Question:I am going to install new telephone and CAT 5 wiring in my attic. I was told the I have to keep this low/no voltage wires 2 inches away from my NM sheathed wiring when I am running these wires in parallel. Is this true?

Answers:
I'd keep them farther than that. If you're too close you'll pick up noise from your AC. OR run shielded cable.

Yes, but that because of interference issuses not safety.
If you do have to cross over your wiring make sure it is at 90 degrees or as close to 90 as you can.
When we do low voltage wires on jobs we typically keep them at least 18 inches away from all of the power wires inside the house if there to close to them the lines will pick up alot of interferance and wont work right, if you have to cross over one do it at a 90 degree angle and if theres no other choice but to run it close to a power wire buy some flexible metallic tubing at a home center and run it through that.
