Question about my toilet-please help?

Question:I have a bathroom in a back bedroom that had been shut off for over a year(no reason, just didn't use it).
All the plumbing worked fine when I closed the door off a year ago.
Now I have opened the bathroom back up, and water is not running to the toilet-it's not the valve, we checked it. And the insides of the toilet are working fine...
The sink and tub work great also. Just the toilet.
Any ideas?

The fill valve in the toilet tank can be fouled by mineral deposits, rust, etc. But I'd suspect the supply valve to the toilet. With the supply valve off, remove the hose/pipe to the tank, aim it into a bucket, and turn on the supply valve. My guess is that it's not opening.

They tend to be poorly made, and because they get opened/closed so infrequently, they get cruded up inside. When you finally close one, a lot of times the valve sticks and when you try to open it, the knob just spins.

If it is the valve, replace it with a 1/4 turn ball valve. These are much more reliable than the standard valve.

Also, if you've got the flexy metal tube between the supply valve and the toilet, replace it with an actual hose. The metal tubes will corrode and leak with time, and there's a good chance it will have cracked when you removed it to test the supply valve.

there is a possibility that there is rust in the line., turn the water off and check the water line to the toilet to see if there is a blockage where the line meets the toilet.. could be mineral deposits at the bottom of the tank as well .. see if there is alot of crud at the bottom of the tank.
You mean you checked the shut off valve the comes out of the floor/wall and water comes out of it when you open and close this valve. No water is reaching the toilet tank. Pipe going to toilet from shut off valve may have corroded. Replace the pipe and while your at it replace the insides of the toilet to make sure the water pipe inside hasn't corroded to.
It has to be the ballcock or valve that isn't working properly. As the pipes are PVC, it will not be rust. The only thing I can think of is the washers are jambed in place.
