3 questions about paint?

Question:Is there any difference between silk + matt when:

a)painting over lining paper
b)mixing with other paints

Also, what colour should i paint my kitchen? It needs to be a neutral colour because i'm selling the property soon.

Answers:
there are different types of finishes for different rooms of the house.
if you dont have kids or arent worred about them writing on the walls you can use a satin, eggshell, or flat for bedrooms, living rooms, basically anything but the kitchen and bath. for the kitchen and bath always use a semigloss. it dries to a harder shell and you can scrub it to clean it, meaning its highly durable and highly washable. the downside is the greater sheen on the paint the more imperfections in the wall it shows, so the wall needs to be primed and in good condition. for a kitchen maybe a dull blue or yellow if you wanted to get away from the off white area.

both will fo well on lining paper, but silk will not cover so well and may need three coats instead of two coats with matt.
you can mix either - as long as with water based paints.
Paint your kitchen an off- white. There's Navajo white, Antique White, Bone White, just to mention a few. On your question about matt, I'm taking that as a question on finishes. Matte is a flat finish. Satin has a low sheen. Eggshell is in between that. Semigloss is shiner that Satin. Gloss is a high sheen. The higher the sheen, the more durable they are. That used to be true, but today's paints have very washable flat finishes. So, normally, a kitchen is painted in a semi-gloss or high gloss because of the wash-ability of it. It's now just preference. Bye
As others state paint is "Named" differently due to the properties of the mix.

Flat is extremely porous, does not clean up well, and likely wears less effectively than Satin or Eggshell, which have more polymers in the mix, more bonding agents. Semi and Gloss paints are mixed with the most polymers and agents allowing the gloss finish.

Silk and Matte: It could be just a "name" difference, as is common in different brands
