Why will hot water make a american standard faucets run siow in about 5 or 7 min.?
Question:
Answers:
Try a better brand than American Standard. I have Moen and Pegasus and don't have problems with that.
It's because the heat from the water makes the faucet and all its components expand. That closes the faucet a little.
All faucets do that, in all countries.
The world does not revolve around America.
I'm not sure, but my guess is that it has to do with your water heater. Maybe your heater can't keep up with the demand and thusly slows as the tank empties. This would be odd since the heatered depends on cold water pressure. Maybe the inlet to your water heater is calcified so the incoming water pressue is lessened and therefore cannot keep the pressure up when the tank is low.
Just a guess...
The prolonged exposure causes the valve seal to swell, in turn reducing the water flow. It's not specific to American Standards - it's a matter of the valve type, and the clearance when the valve's open.
If it is getting noticeably slower, it could be sediment in the bottom of your hot water heater. If you have hard water your valves may have lime build-up on them also. You don't say whether it is gas or electric, but if it is electric, you'll have lime built up around the heating elements also. Expanding pipes would decrease pressure not volume.
And YES the world does revolve around the America.
